BAND BIO
2006 proved to be the biggest and best year in the short history of the band Narwhal. Straying from their hometown of Tustin CA, the guys hit the road and never looked back. Armed with their style of infectious rock and unrelenting attitudes, the band earned their stripes playing anywhere between the dingiest of clubs, to sports arenas.

Since it’s formation in late 2004, Narwhal has always been about high energy live shows. The five band members –lead vocals/guitar Forrest Devitt, lead guitarist Jarret Killen, bassist Daneger, keyboardist Rick Alvin Schaier, drummer Danny Quesada – wrote new material and played live shows anywhere they could. Creating an early buzz with local fans, they went into Orange Crush Studio to record a five-song EP, Forrest Fire, under the name The Dane[ger].

After promoting and selling over 3,000 copies, they were approached by Maloof Music (maloofmusic.com) and signed a development deal with Maloof Music/Interscope Records.

“This is a terrific group of young performers that we are thrilled to sign as one of our first acts,” stated Maloof Music Chairman/CEO Phil Maloof.

The band, selected over hundreds of other artists, was ushered into the studio to record three new tracks produced by Trevor Keith, lead singer/producer of the band Face to Face, and Chad Blinman, engineer of The Get Up Kids (“Something To Write Home About”). The tracks were re-mixed and re-mastered in the newly opened recording studio at The Palms by Chris Fudurich (Jimmy Eat World’s Stay on My Side Tonight). On February 4, 2006, under their new name Narwhal, they released their first self-titled EP, which includes the tracks “Wide Awake,” “The Desert,” “On A Wagon,” “Cha” and “Vampires.”

After getting the ball rolling in 2006 with a stellar live performance at the nationally televised Burton U.S. Open of Snowboarding in Vermont, Narwhal went on to share the stage with artists such as Hot Hot Heat, Hoobastank, Puddle if Mudd, Mae, Switchfoot, and INXS. They kicked off the summer on the Lions, Tigers, and Bears tour with Bayside, Halifax and The Sleeping. Then they toured 2 weeks on the west coast dates of the Vans Warped Tour. They ended the summer on a high note, opening for Yellowcard and Matchbook Romance.

While their EP is in constant circulation at the Arco Arena in Sacramento and The Palms, their song “Drug Driven,” produced by legendary guitarist Pat Thrall, is currently being heard in movie theaters across the country in the motion picture FEAST as well as on the official soundtrack to the film. The band is currently writing and recording for their upcoming full-length debut album on Maloof Music/Interscope Records, slated for release in the summer of 2007.
